Just because it might seem as though it’s running smoothly now that the weather has gotten warmer, that does not mean that there aren’t some potential hidden problems that need addressing. Here at Knight Nissan in Swift Current, we know how to combat the issues that the seasonal change can bring to your car, and we hope this list of tips helps keep your car running at its best!

Take Care of any Essential Maintenance ASAP

The constant temperature fluctuations that occur between winter and spring can cause quite a mess for vital components in your vehicle. If there is any service your car might have required during the colder months, but was put off for whatever reason, it’s very important that it is tended to sooner rather than later. After that, have your car receive an oil change and stabilize fluid levels with a quick tune-up. This alone can work wonders for the health of your automobile.

Replace any Belts, Hoses, or Windshield Wipers

Taking a close look at these pieces of equipment could save you costly repairs in the future. If there are any leaks, cracks, fraying, or swelling with the aforementioned components, have them fixed or replaced right away. The added heat and humidity that comes with springtime weather will only dramatically increase those problems. Don’t forget about your windshield wipers either! While they might have served you well keeping sleet from obstructing your vision, that does not mean that they’ll be as effective come spring and summer. Examine them for any chips or cracks in the rubber and replace them if they show signs of wear.

Have Your Battery Tested

Winter is the toughest season for a car battery. The extreme cold is a demanding starting condition for your vehicle. Make sure your battery is alright to continue its duty into the spring months by testing it. A battery that fails during warm weather might not seem nearly as bad as one that fails during a frigid winter, but if failing can be avoided altogether, why take the risk? If it does not test well, have your battery replaced if necessary.
