2017 Nissan GT-R

Possessing a single trim level, sole powerhouse engine, and a dual clutch 6-speed system as the lone transmission option, the 2017 Nissan GT-R immediately singles itself out as meant for only the driving purist. The streets of Regina and Swift Current have never seen anything like this before; from grille to taillights, inside and out, the 2017 GT-R exists somewhere beyond the exception. This is a machine made for an elite few. Find out if you’re one of them.

Performance and Efficiency

Nissan innovated beyond the competition to develop a cutting-edge powertrain for the 2017 GT-R. A twin-turbocharged 3.8L V6 combines the exhaust manifold and turbocharger into a single unit in order to efficiently feed oxygen to the engine, and high-precision electrics are used to combat turbo lag as torque rises. With a colossal 565 horsepower and immense 467 lb-ft of torque, the output of the GT-R speaks for itself.

It also speaks of the painstaking craftsmanship that went into each engine. Hand-assembled by a single technician in a dust- and temperature-controlled clean room like those used for crafting the powerhouse engines that form the heart of F1 supercars, these are superior works of engineering.

Further engine attributes include:

  • Ladder frame structure and magnesium alloy construction to ensure both lightness and strength.
  • Independent intake and exhaust system with turbocharger, intercooler, and catalyst on each side of the VR38 to enhance horsepower and responsiveness.
  • Innovative plasma-sprayed bores for faster cooling, reduced friction, and maximized fuel efficiency.

These steps forward mean that the GT-R’s V6 is as efficient as it is commanding. Thanks to the dual clutch 6-speed transmission system, which makes shifts in as little as 0.15 seconds, you’ll be able to achieve up to 14.5 L/100 km in the city and 10.7 on the highway.

Exterior Design

The team over at Nissan have exercised near-fanatical dedication to achieve a 0.26 coefficient of drag and a finely and faultlessly styled exterior.

That started with hours in the wind tunnel to ensure that the GT-R sculpts the air that it passes through. The result was:

  • Redesigned side skirts that prevent air flow being drawn underneath the vehicle.
  • An extended rear fascia to direct air away from the back of the bumper and cool the exhaust.
  • A larger grille that allows more air to stream in and cool down key components.
  • A reshaped front fascia that better directs air around the front wheels to reduce drag.

Vibration testing and laser measurements are used to ensure that precision engineering produces perfection every time. As a finishing touch, each model is thoroughly inspected by the hands and eyes of highly-trained and experienced technicians. Fluorescent, halogen, and diluted flood lights are all used to scrutinize the body from top to bottom and pick out even the slightest imperfection.

Interior Design

The GT-R’s rich tradition of craftsmanship continues from under the hood to inside the cabin. Every dial, button, and display has been positioned in order to put everything intuitively where you think it should be, and a Display Commander allows for full and direct control over your driving environment from the GT-R’s multi-touch screen.

Though you might not expect it from a vehicle so focused on performance, the 2017 GT-R boasts enough space to accommodate up to four passengers comfortably. To match track-inspired performance with race-ready support, just add the available Recaro leather-appointed seats. Stunning with black leather and red accents, they’ve been perfectly bolstered to keep you steady during tight corners.

Safety Features

Supercars are traditionally fastidious about the kind of terrain and weather conditions that they can handle, but not the 2017 Nissan GT-R. When Swift Current and Regina roads turn wet or snowy, you’ll be able to rely on All-Wheel Drive and Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) systems as standard to deliver flawless traction and control.

Everyday driving is made safer thanks to a Nissan/Brembo braking system, which uses Floating disc rotors to pull away heat from the brake pads, and monoblock calipers for unequalled stopping power. If an accident does ever arise, just use NissanConnect Services to have roadside assistance sent to your exact location as soon as possible.
