Keep reading to see a competitive comparison of the 2016 Nissan Rogue and 2016 Subaru Forester.
Powertrains and Efficiency
The 2016 Nissan Rogue comes with a powerful 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that will see Regina and Swift Current drivers commanding 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with a Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System and the Nissan Direct Ignition System, the 2016 Rogue will see drivers earning up to 7.1 L/100 km on the highway and 9.1 L/100 km in the city with FWD, or 7.4 L/100 km on the highway and 9.5 L/100 km in the city with AWD.
The 2016 Subaru Forester also comes with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 170 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, but it only earns up to 7.5 L/100 km on the highway and 9.6 L/100 km in the city with an automatic transmission. A more powerful engine is available on upper-level trims, but Regina and Swift Current drivers will want to steer clear of this option as it needs even more fuel, managing just 10.2 L/100 km in the city and 8.5 L/100 km on the highway.
With a starting price more than $1,000 less than the 2016 Subaru Forester, the 2016 Nissan Rogue packs more into both its standard models and its upper-level models. The 2016 Rogue S comes with the EZ Flex seating system, a RearView Monitor, the NissanConnect system with mobile apps, and UV-reducing solar glass. The EZ Flex seating system allows for easy access and maneuverability in the cabin with a second-row split-folding/sliding/reclining bench seat. The 2016 Forester only has a basic 60/40-split flat-folding rear seat.
Upper-level 2016 Rogue trims will come with the following features:
- Bose Audio System: Nine custom-engineered, strategically placed Bose speakers.
- Around View Monitor: Four cameras give you a virtual 360-degree bird’s-eye view of your vehicle, with selectable split-screen close-ups of the front, rear, and curbside views.
- Third-row split fold-flat bench seating: Enjoy seating for up to seven passengers.
The 2016 Subaru Forester does not have an optional third row, nor does it offer a premium Bose sound system or Around View Monitor.
