2015 Nissan Altima vs. 2015 Mazda6
Regina and Swift Current drivers don’t take long to decide that the 2015 Nissan Altima offers far more than the 2015 Mazda6. With a lower starting price, greater range of engine options, and exclusive technology, the 2015 Altima easily outperforms the new Mazda6.
Trims and Prices
The 2015 Nissan Altima is one of the most impressive high-performance sedans currently available, but it starts for just $23,798 with the 2.5 trim. For that price, you’ll receive outstanding standard features – including a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, Xtronic CVT, and a remote keyless entry system with push button ignition. In contrast, the Mazda6 GX starts at $24,695, close to $1000 more.
The Altima allows you to choose from four other models, while the Mazda6 provides just two. An upper level Altima will start at $34,148 – offering high intensity discharge (HID) xenon headlights and a state-of-the-art Nissan Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic. A premium Mazda6 will set you back at least $35,695 – over $1500 more.
Range of Power
The 2015 Mazda6 is fitted with just one engine, no matter which trim level you chose. The 2.5L SKYACTIV-G is good for 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Those are acceptable numbers, but become less so when you recall that you’ll experience the same level of performance behind the wheel of a $24,695 Mazda6 as you would behind that of a $35,695 model.
In contrast, the 2015 Nissan Altima is available with two engines. The standard 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder offers similar performance to the 2015, with 182 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, but the 3.5L DOHC V6 engine is a different breed entirely. Available for Regina and Swift Current drivers who accept nothing less than pure adrenalin and pin-point responsiveness, it generates a mighty 270 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque.
Standard and Available Features
The 2015 Nissan Altima doesn’t simply outperform the 2015 Mazda6 when it comes to power. Swift Current and Regina drivers will also benefit from a greater range of standard and available features.
The following are available with the Altima but not with the Mazda6:
- Active Understeer Control System: This cutting edge system brakes the inside wheels during cornering to enhance control and allow for more confident handling.
- Zero Gravity Seats: Based on research conducted by NASA to determine the natural posture of weightlessness, Nissan Engineering have developed front seats which take comfort of this world.
- Nissan Intelligent Key: If you’ve got your Nissan Intelligent Key in your pocket or purse, just tap a button on the door or trunk and it will open. You can even start her up from up to 100 feet away with the Remote Engine Start System.
